We’ve all been there, right?

Well, I’ve been there.

That a-ha moment that finally sets you in motion from whatever stagnant or vacillating position you’ve been in.

Your business is in a rut. Zero to no growth… high staff turnover… aggressive competitors.

Your relationship is in the doldrums. You and your partner barely go out. The conversation is dull and muted. Sex, boring or non-existent.

Your life is turbid. Nothing seems clear. You don’t know whether you are coming or going.

Your relationship with your kids is… routine. There’s no fun.

And COVID-19 isn’t helping.

Then something hits and you are ON FIRE!

You are going to do SOMETHING!

And, for a period of time, you do. You re-double your efforts.

Work longer hours.

Go on a few dates with your partner.

Make plans for your future.

Turn off the TV and spend a few days out with the kids

and then…

R3SI!STaNCE

Yeah… resistance. It slows you down; saps your energy; weakens your resolve.

What can you do to re-motivate yourself?

Start here:

  1. Focus on what is in your control: which is a surprisingly small but powerful list.
  2. Look UP the line. If it’s true that you are the average of the five people closest to you, then look at the two above you and learn 🙂
  3. Learn to take a wider perspective on things. You only feel resistance because of the way you define your options.
  4. Remember: you can only eat an elephant one bite at a time. Break it down into smaller more manageable pieces. micro accomplishments lead to micro results which lead to larger results.
  5. Give yourself something. Rewards help keep you focused and have a little fun! Just be careful. The best rewards don’t cost a thing.
  6. Meditate. It softens the edges and helps keep things in perspective.
