Wouldn't it be great if there was an easy way to get started with Meditation? Well, you can Just say, "Aahh!"
No. I’m not talking about chanting mantras.
I'm talking about a simple framework to help get you started.
Meditation can be as simple as
Sit, Breathe, Repeat…
But if you need a little bit more support check out this Step by Step Tutorial.
This quick tutorial is a small piece of my How to Meditate with Ease Quickstarter Bootcamp.
There are four basic components for easily starting your practice. I call them ‘Aahh!’
Aahh is an acronym that tells you all you need to get started.
It stands for:

Area – The place you chose as your meditation spot
Attention – Your initial meditation Focus or ‘object of attention’
Honing – The Practice of meditation
How long or Habit – The amount of time you should devote.
Area
OK, obvious alert!!!! Choosing the right location, when starting out, could be the most important thing that you should do, I would consider it first.
What makes the best place? I recommend…
Clean, Quiet and Accessible.
Especially Accessible.
You can learn to meditate anywhere however start with a place where you can quickly relax your body and mind, and that’s not so far off the beaten track that you never go there. Just be careful it's not in a main traffic path. You don't want constant interruption.
Attention
Chose something to anchor your attention – an object of focus.
Keep it simple. I suggest your breath.
The breath is great because it’s free, It’s always with you, and if you don’t try to control it, it varies enough to keep things interesting.
Honing
Honing – the discipline of refining or perfecting
Now that you are sitting. It’s time for the skill work.
Close your eyes — unless your object of Attention is a candle or something.
Then, just sit and observe your breath. Your object keeps your attention on right now. This is meditation.
When the mind wanders, just note that it has wandered and bring it back.
Again, and again, and again.
You are now honing your skill.
Simple isn’t it.
Last thing… How long?
Habit
This is both a simple and complex question so I will talk the science first.
It turns out that just 9 minutes a day for two weeks is enough for scientists to detect changes in brain function.
That is amazing!
Of course, the magic is in the cumulative effect. The longer you meditate, the more beneficial and the more permanent the changes.
But let's keep it simple
Just make meditation a habit.
I was all over the place when I started to meditate.
It was only when I gave myself permission to consider one minute of honest effort of meditation to be good that I began to grow.
Be focussed more on consistency than length of time sitting. That's when things really started to change for me.
One minute every day for 365 days is better than one sitting of 365 minutes in a year..
That’s it.
Just say ‘Aahh!’
Area, Attention, Hone, Habit.
